About Danny Birt.

A senior conversion copywriter with a solo practice, a 3-person back office, and an average 2.4× lift on the pages he rewrites — built deliberately since 2017, not assembled from gig work.

Origin — Est. 2017

From the agency room to a deliberate solo practice.

Danny founded the practice in 2017 after a four-year stint as Senior Copywriter at a Shopify Plus agency, where he shipped direct-response work for venture-backed DTC brands and learned, slowly and at cost, that the agency model rewards hours billed, not pages that move.

The move was a deliberate one. He turned down staff offers, kept a single client from the agency roster to anchor the cash flow, and rebuilt his working method around a single question: what does a specific visitor segment need to read in order to stop being a skeptic? Everything since — the headline frameworks, the customer interview archive, the offer-mechanic drills — has followed from that question.

By 2019 the practice had grown enough to support a 3-person back office: a researcher who runs the customer interviews, a designer who lays out proof modules, and an editor who pressure-tests the final draft against the original brief. Danny still writes every page himself. The back office exists so he can keep doing that without burning the project on logistics.

Eight years in, the shape of the work has not changed — direct response copywriting for founders who would rather sound like themselves than like the category. Only the bench behind it has gotten deeper.

Track Record — Documented, Not Boasted

A body of work a skeptical CMO can verify.

Since founding the practice, Danny has shipped conversion copy for 180+ brands across SaaS, DTC, and high-ticket services. The body of work is documented in three places a buyer can actually check: a Clutch profile with a 5.0/5.0 rating across 87 verified reviews, a maintained Upwork history, and a portfolio that links the page, the brief, and the post-launch lift where clients have given permission to publish them.

He has been a featured contributor to Copyblogger, CXL, and ConversionXL between 2019 and 2023, and was named one of Copyhackers' "9 Freelance Conversion Copywriters Worth Hiring in 2024." Those citations sit next to the work, not in front of it.

Craft & Process — How The Work Gets Done

A working method, not a deliverables list.

Four stages, each run by the same person with contracted support. The order is deliberate: research before offer, offer before proof, proof before page.

  1. 01

    The Mechanism-First Brief

Every engagement begins with the Offer + Proof + Mechanism framework: a written brief naming the offer, the proof that earns it the right to be believed, and the mechanism — the *why it works* story that turns a feature into a reason to act. The brief is the contract.

  2. 02

    40+ Archived Customer Interviews

The researcher runs deep-dive interviews with past buyers, lost deals, and skeptics. They are transcribed, coded, and archived in a private library of more than forty — a pattern-spotting corpus that shapes the headline and the objections answered on the page.

  3. 03

    Draft, Pressure-Test, Ship

Drafts are written by Danny, edited against the brief by the in-house editor, and laid out with proof modules by the designer. Average client engagement value sits at $14,800, with a 0.7% project rescope rate — the brief holds because it was built before the page was.

  4. 04

The Birt Brief & Community Teaching

The framework is taught, not just used. 'The Birt Brief' newsletter launched January 2021 and now reaches 11,400+ subscribers — read by CMOs at Calendly, Notion, and Webflow — and the method is taught in three private Slack communities for in-house conversion teams.

On Stage — Copy School Live 2022

"The mechanism is the page. A feature tells a buyer what you do. A mechanism tells them why it works on them — and a skeptic will forgive a lot of friction once the second question has been answered."
